What to do before and after Botox

Before Your Botox Treatment

It sounds obvious, but the first thing you need to do is consider which facial areas you would like to treat. For example, you may want Botox for the forehead or crow’s feet around the eyes. However, if you have cold sores or are pregnant, we will not be able to offer you Botox injectables. Next, book your free consultation. During this session, we’ll conduct a facial assessment and discuss your goals for the anti-wrinkle injections. After that, you’re ready to schedule your treatment. While bruising is usually minimal, it’s best to plan your treatment around your social commitments.

It’s also advisable to allow at least seven days before getting your injectables. This is because there are a few things you’ll need to avoid in the week leading up to your treatment, including certain vitamins, ibuprofen, and alcohol (sorry!). Taking these precautions helps to limit potential bruising. While Botox side effects are typically minimal, it’s always best to minimize the risks associated with the treatment.

What to Do After Your Botox Treatment

To achieve the best results, it’s important to follow the Botox aftercare advice you receive in your post-treatment consultation. Knowing what to do after your treatment is just as crucial as preparing for it. We’re sharing a few tips here to help you plan your Botox treatment at the most convenient time for you.

After your Botox treatment, you will need to remain upright for about four hours. Lying down too soon can cause the Botox to “slip” into unintended areas, potentially affecting muscles that were not meant to be treated. For this reason, you should also avoid vigorous exercise for 24 hours. Additionally, you’ll need to avoid wearing makeup for a day to prevent any slight risk of infection.

Following these guidelines, your injections will begin to work within a few days, and you’ll start to see results within a week. It’s normal to feel a little heaviness in the treated areas as the Botox starts to take effect in the first week. If it’s your first time getting Botox, we’ll follow up with you after two weeks to check on the results.
